Mobile App Design Prototype
A Minecraft companion app prototype that enables users to record diary entries, save in‑game coordinates, and capture build design ideas.

Block Diary is a design prototype for a Minecraft companion app. It allows players to document their adventures through diary entries, save important coordinates, and sketch or note down ideas for builds.
Key prototype features include a user-friendly journal interface for documenting thoughts and progress, coordinate logging with customizable tagging for easy tracking of locations or key points, and a dedicated section for saving build inspirations, which supports both images and notes. These features aim to streamline the creative and documentation process, especially for users working on iterative or location-based projects. The prototype was designed entirely in Figma, ensuring a cohesive user experience through consistent visual elements, intuitive interactions, and responsive layouts tailored for mobile use.
To arrive at these features, we first defined our target audience—casual players seeking simple progress logs, ambitious builders in need of design references, and explorers focused on mapping key landmarks. We then identified core pain points, such as the tedium of manual coordinate entry and the frustration of losing track of creative inspiration, and conducted a competitive analysis of existing wikis, generic note apps, and edition-specific mods. With those insights in hand, we mapped essential user flows for logging adventures, saving landmarks, and organizing builds, and laid out a research plan comprising surveys, interviews, and wireframe usability tests. Synthesizing this feedback confirmed strong demand for a highly visual logging system, a seamless bookmarking mechanism, and a shared library of build ideas—guiding our next steps toward low-fidelity prototypes, usability iterations, and a polished high-fidelity Figma prototype for final review.
The design was built entirely on Figma over the course of four intensive days as an entry for the CSSEC's UI/UX Competition held during IT Week 2025.
